Saugus Town Meeting approves $15.2 million in capital spending on infrastructure and schools. The second session endorsed water pipeline improvements ($2.1 million, financed at zero percent from the MWRA), a lead service line replacement program ($4.8 million), and sewer infrastructure ($5.8 million), all presented by Finance Committee Chairman Ken DePatto. School enrichment and support articles totaling roughly $957,000 passed with one indefinite postponement; a firearm and hunting regulation amendment restricting hunting in Prankers Pond narrowly passed after contentious debate.
A non-binding Host Community Agreement resolution with waste facility operator Winn Waste Innovations was referred back to the maker amid concerns over confusing amendments. Meeting continues May 18.
