Saugus Library Board Votes to Revise Circulation and Inclement Weather Policies
Library · Meeting of March 26, 2026
Saugus Library Board of Trustees unanimously approved two updated library policies at its March 26 meeting. Library Director Alan Tebow presented revisions to both the circulation policy and the inclement weather policy, which had not been substantially updated since 2020 and were distributed to trustees in early February. The most notable circulation change eliminates the 30-day lost-item refund window, requiring patrons to keep any item they declare lost and pay for, removing an administrative process that involved W-9 forms and town hall check processing.
The inclement weather policy now explicitly lists town-wide parking bans as a closure trigger, formalizing a practice that had not previously appeared in writing. Tebow also reported that the library received the first half of its annual state aid payment, $36,567.02, on December 31, with the second installment expected in April, and that the library's budget request has cleared the Board of Selectmen and heads next to the Finance Committee.
