Finance Committee · Meeting of April 1, 2026
Saugus Finance Committee reviews DPW budget and enterprise funds ahead of Town Meeting. Chair Kenneth DePatto led the April 1 session through forestry, highway, engineering, motor pool, waste collection, cemetery, parks, and both sewer and water enterprise accounts, with no formal votes taken. Snow and ice costs for the current season remain uncounted but are expected to exceed $1 million, with vehicle repairs alone topping $200,000.
A financial consultant identified only as Wendy noted the sewer budget reflects the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission's highest cost estimate, currently pegged at approximately $2.5 million, and said the MWRA water assessment increase amounts to roughly 5 percent over three fiscal years. The committee is scheduled to cover town boards on April 8 and other departments, debt, and employee benefits on April 15 before reaching the schools.
