Saugus Health Board Sends 121 Questions to DEP
Board of Health · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Saugus Board of Health votes 4-0 to send 121 resident questions on WIN Waste Innovations to the state. Member Joseph Dorant pressed the facility's representative on two August cooling-water intake malfunctions and on ash-shipment rates that hit "102.74 percent" in August against an original 50 percent target, now raised to 75 percent. Public Health Director John R.
Fralick III compiled the 121 questions, gathered from Saugus and Revere residents and groups including the Romney Marsh Conservancy and Conservation Law Foundation during a June 15-August 15 comment period, and will copy the state secretary of energy and environmental affairs on the submission. Dorant said annual reports show less than 33,000 cubic yards of ash-fill capacity left at the facility's monofill. Public Health Nurse Teresa Riley-Singh reported 20 Lyme disease cases and 3,294 U.S. measles cases in 2026, already surpassing 2025's total.
