Board of Selectmen approves $141.5M FY27 budget

SAUGUS — Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget totaling $141.5 million. Town Manager Scott Crabtree presented a preliminary General Fund budget of $124.3 million and Water and Sewer Fund budget of $17.2 million, with significant cost pressures including unfinalalized health insurance rates, a $243,303 increase in pension contributions to $6.04 million, and a 12 percent jump in regional vocational school assessments pending April enrollment confirmation. Finance Director Wendy A.

Hatch reported property tax revenue of $86.3 million with a 2.5 percent increase, state aid of $22.2 million, and local receipts of $11.3 million. The School Department budget recommendation is $35.8 million, a $1 million increase over FY26.
